What is Peace Begins Within?
The great Sufi poet Rumi wrote "Out beyond ideas of right doing and wrong doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there." Can you imagine living from a space outside the ideas of right and wrong doing? A radical space where there are no victims or villains, and everything, and I mean everything was acceptable and allowed to be here without judgement, or the desire to change it. In this space, everything becomes a pathway back to peace. The car that cuts you off, the neighbors constant noise, your incompetent boss, even the line at the post office becomes a teacher that brings you deeper into this field. Aaawwwh. Peace. The field is called peace. As hard as it is to believe it is possible to live there. You don't need any magic beans, pills, or mushrooms to get there either. It's always available to you, it is always right within your reach. Peace, you see, begins within you. It doesn't require any religion, spiritual understanding, or any belief at all. All it requires is a willingness to look for it. A pause in the daily distractions of living to step into a greater experience of Life. Life as it was meant to be lived, in Joy. Peace doesn't mean that you end all distraction, all chaos, all unpleasant things in your life, Peace is being in the midst of those things and still being calm in your heart. The mind is a terrible master, and yet we've given it full control over our lives. It has a problem with everything! The weather, our spouses, the car parked next to us, that idiot on the freeway! It is always finding things to go to war with, even the length of a stop light is a problem! It is no surprise so many of us numb out however we can with pills, alcohol, and endless distractions to give us a small respite from living in the world of constant struggle inside our minds. But there is a shift happening here. People are waking up, they are hearing the call like you, that it is time to come back to your true self. To engage once again in this joyous journey called life. To stop beating and belittling the mind that has keep us in chains, but to befriend it. To see this mind has been awaiting for us to relieve it of this heavy burden of being in control of life. You can, no matter the circumstances in your life, live from a deep space of Peace. Our world can live from a deep space of Peace. Peace begins within is a call to arms for all those searchers, all those wanders looking for a workable and practical way to live a happier, healthier, more joyous and peaceful life. We truly can have Peace on earth, it begins within each one of us. You are an inetragial part of this process. By cultivating peace within yourself you become a conduit of peace for the Earth. The more we can unhook from the mind of struggle the more we can learn to live from Rumi's field. So please, reach out, I'll meet you there.
About Simone
As long as I can remember I've had a deep yearning for peace. Not the peace of the mind that wants things to be different in order for it to be happy, but the deeper peace of the soul. My journey started when I was very young. I was reading books on the subject when I was 7. I could see around me that people weren't happy, that there was unrest and pain in them. I longed, like many of us, to be free. When I was 18 I began to truly wake up to Rumi's field. I began walking towards it with the help of amazing teachers. By attending retreats, lectures, reading books, and listening to the wisdom of the field I've found myself living more and more in this joyful state of peace. I knew when I was younger I wanted to be free so I could help free others. This is my soul's work on Earth, and it would be a joy to share it with you.
